Anyway i have decided on a 13-inch MacBook Pro after trying to balance mobility, performance, and style.

Not that i needed a laptop, and i think i will still use the one provided by NIE to do all my school work. This MacBook should come in handy should i be bored and would like to go surfing at Starbucks, otherwise it should be sitting on my desk. Then why not an iMac you may ask, i don't know, i just like the idea where i can pack and go and use my computer everywhere.

Maybe after my MacBook arrives i would blog more, (and maybe post more pictures of myself taken on Photobooth heh)

I remember the days when i used to blog once a day.

These days i've been lacking the inspiration to write, or having the ignorance of life to take note of whats happening and write, or just the ill-discipline to sit in front of the computer and write.

Notice that all 3 problems begin with I.

Well, the iPad and iPhone has been released in Singapore since the last time i blogged.

I so wanted to get an iPad, but after researching more on this much coveted device, i thought it failed to meet my requirements. Furthermore, it isn't exactly something which you can squeeze into your pockets, and not exactly that cheap to throw it around like a frisbee. The simplicity of this machine is both its strength and weakness, i just thought i needed something with more functions, like a MacBook or Netbook.

And so the search begins, looking for another toy to play with.

My heart is with the MacBook, though i have to find peace with my hands that they have to lug the 13-inch, 2.17kg device around. And NIE will be sponsoring a laptop for my studies so i dread the possibility of carrying 2 laptops around.

Then comes the Netbook, so small i could lose it in my bag, as light as a book and cheap as dirt. Just minus the cool factor i guess, and slower in performance.

I guess the search continues.

I'M BACK!

Been some time since i'm back but i haven't found the time to update this space.

Kuching has been fantastic.
I don't know how to summarize the entire experience, but its been an eye-opener.

Being right at the front-line of the war, we were challenged, pushed, attacked, and in the end, i could say we've overcomed, by the grace of God.

Though tiring, the sense of satisfaction that we're actually making a real difference did strive us on, as we sought to perform every task we had with a spirit of excellence.

Personally, it was another breakthrough for me. Well, if taking the offering message during the English adult service was already a step of faith, God decided to take the test one step further, and i didn't give for the English service, but rather..

The Children's Church service, and in CHINESE.

And so i think i scrapped through, having to translate my message into mandarin and to make it relatable to children. What's more, i only have like a day's notice.

Amidst all these, God pulled me through and hearing the children's responses really touched my heart.

Another thing which touched me was that i finally had a sense of what poverty is like. Living in comfortable Singapore, though i've met poor people before, but i think they are already really fortunate as compared to some folks in Kuching. I didn't even dare complain about the uncleanliness and mess their houses were in, knowing that they couldn't much afford any better. I totally feel much more fortunate now.

And we prayed alot. or rather, the people in CHC Kuching prayed alot, and we just had to follow. One day, we even spent around 5 hours in prayer in total. It really did stretch my prayer life and stamina.

Well, of course we did some other stuff, like acting in the drama and stuff, but like i said, i couldn't summarize everything we did in a blog post. There's just too many things to talk about.

Besides the mission, we did have fun. Fooling around, trying to maintain a lively atmosphere while getting serious when the time comes. The hospitality extended to us by the CHC Kuching Team is really beyond expectation. We had a nice house to live in, comfortable transport to every destination, Pastors driving us around, good meals and even treats in restaurants plus leisure time for us to shop and relax.

All in all, i enjoyed the mission trip and i really can't wait for the next one. I'm sure there's more to come.

Flying off to Kuching in about 14 hours time for my first mission trip.

I live for moments like this.

I'm really excited about it!

Missions have always been in my heart, and i tried many years to go for one but somehow things just didn't happen. This time, i enrolled myself in SOT to get trained, and finally i'll be able to exercise what i've learnt, in the mission field, where i truly believe i'm called to.

Taking a step of faith, the craziest thing i'm gonna do this trip.. is to give the offering message during the english service.

Wow, i believe i was never called to the mike. Preaching is a crazy thing to me and it continues to be. If you have spoken to me you would probably notice i stutter alot, mispronounce often, and my enunciation needs much improvement.

Yet from the comments and encouragements i received from the preaching test, i really decided to trust God and take a step of faith to share the offering message. Please pray for me, i need it. I thought if its really a gift of God, i better use it to count myself faithful of His gifts. Remember the parable of the talents?

Amidst the offering, i'm also try to get myself involved in stuff more comfortable and natural for me - games, some acting etc.

And so my first mission trip begins soon and i can't wait!

"Now" is a very selfish word.

By asking for something NOW, we are trying to place our needs above others. Sure i understand the urgency, but what makes us think that our request is more urgent that what the other person has to attend to? By asking for something NOW, its as good as saying, "drop everything you're doing and attend to ME FIRST".

Sure, i'm guilty of using that word once in a while. We need to remind ourselves that no one is obligated to help you.

Be kind to everyone, you never know what hidden battles the person is fighting.

Its been a privilege and honor to serve possibly some of the greatest men and women of God alive today at the front of the stage throughout all 5 days.

Having hermitised myself at Expo for the past 5 days, having spent as much as 18 hours a day there, i'm trying to reconnect myself with the world and resync myself with current events and news.

Of course, now i need to rest my body (my feets ACHE) and my wallet (cabs to and fro expo for the past 5 days, plus midnight charge both in the morning <6am and after midnight >12am)

Have you ever experienced climbing a mountain, and nearing the top, reached out your hand hoping someone would pull you up when instead, someone pushed you down?

I love watching The Ellen Degeneres show especially when i get to see Ellen giving out stuff to her audience, to people in need, and even to dogs.

I don't know why i feel so great about it, when i'm not the recipient of all that stuff. Its that same kind of excitement watching the birthday boy/girl unwrapping his/her presents.

Then one day i realised, if we of such imperfect love can gain such joy in watching other people receive, how much more would God of perfect love be happy?

I'm sure everyday God would tune in to The Mary Lim Show or The Peter Wang Show and be so glad looking at His children giving to one another, and even though it is not an offering to God, God would have been pleased by it.

I wanted to thread my brows today.. Till I realised the tee I'm wearing has so short a sleeve that when I lift my hands up it would expose my armpit.

That would be disasterous if I were to lift up my hand to tighten my skin during threading. And it didn't help when the one serving me is a pretty young lady.. I shy what.

I think I gotta wear a long sleeve shirt the next time I thread.

No SOT for today and tomorrow, the other half are having their mock cg assessment. I now find myself having some free time to recreate, although i have plenty of reading to catch up on, but i find reading religious books a form of recreation anyway.

And if you feel you haven't been seeing me enough, i haven't seen my parents for one whole week. The birthday cake they bought for me is still in the fridge. I'm such a bad son man.

Recreation may seem like a lazy thing to do now, but i learnt through SOT, it can be powerful spiritual warfare. Everytime Pastor Ming talks about emotional capacity and emotional health, i would be at the edge of my sleep, i mean seat, and be prepared to take down every tip.

And its always the same tip: Recreation, Recreation, Recreation.

Have i not been having enough fun? Or perhaps i'm just someone who needs more recreation to be and stay emotionally healthy.

No idea, but recreation is very important. Balance is key.

21st.

Okay, i'm 21. I didn't really celebrate it, but i'm still really happy. I really appreciate the time spent with my friends, every minute meant alot to me.

Well, i may have placed little emphasis on my 21st birthday. After all, everything's still the same and life goes on as usual. Its not like in The Sims when you grow from a teen to an adult, time suddenly stops, the whole world moves towards you, watch you cut your cake and you take on a new body and enter into a new life, if you know what i mean.

Instead i believe that maturity doesn't come with age but maturity comes with the willingness to accept responsibility. Some people grow old but they never grow up.

I think in today's society, adulthood should no longer be defined as 21 years old anymore. These days, youths make their decisions sooner in life. For me, my parents have always given me the freedom to do whatever i want (unless its bad), and though i may not act like an adult sometimes, but still i believe i've matured into adulthood already, i've learnt how to make my own decisions, look after myself and choose the paths i want to take in life.

And don't worry i dont have a pinch of regret that i didn't hold a party because a party is really not my thing. I may have regretted not celebrating the way i did though.

But don't get me wrong, i LOVE birthday parties, when its not mine.

If you didn't manage to hear any of my birthday speeches, i do have some prayer requests :)

1. Better emotional health and emotional management.
2. Better relationships, with God, with my family and with friends. Not hi-bye friends, but deep, meaningful friendships. I dont desire to have many friends but i'll always love my good friends.

If you know me, these have been the same requests for years.

A seed cannot bear fruit unless it first dies.

Someone once said, "we can all count the number of seeds in an apple but only God can count the number of apple trees in one seed."

Many a times we do not experience the full blessings of God because we hold on to our seeds too tightly. We are happy with the few seeds God placed in our pockets but never really walked into the garden which God has originally planned to give us as we sow those seeds.

Its true that God blesses us. But its better when God blesses us to be a blessing.

i question myself very often, "do i really have what it takes?"

i face the same insecurities, i struggle with the same uncertainties, i get tied up with the same struggles.
many days i just feel like giving up, many days i have the thought that maybe the burdens are too heavy for me to carry.

it is a lonely thing. and it is this same loneliness which drives me to God.

those nights only my four walls (and God) would know, when i would wash my face in tears, crying out to God, and also a little crying on my own.

and those times when it occur to me exactly how much fun i'm actually missing out.

Monday's my 21st. I deeply appreciate all whom came up to me during the initial periods to encourage me to throw a birthday party, but I guess it's my birthday, and I'll be happy celebrating it doing the thing I love most - spending quality time with my favourite people.

I'm doing the 21 days have-a-meal-each day thing, and I realise I don't have to do so many days. In fact, I'm only actually doing 2.
2 friends who hold special places in my heart and my birthday would be known to them as 'the day my burden was born'.

Hahaha, other than that, 19th April will be like any other day to me, other than the fact that Pst Kong will be teaching in SOT (the whole of next week, yeah!)

This is my new motto in life:

sometimes i feel people think its my new reason for my laziness. But i get things done (right?), so.. let my work do the talking.

I'm not against working hard, in fact, i advocate hard work.

But i'm tired of watching people tiring themselves out doing things which definitely got a more effective way of getting it done. Sometimes, we just need to do a little bit more thinking.

There is always a smarter way to everything.

Been busy with mock cg the past 2 days. Pretty good experience, and I'm pretty much glad it's over.

Went well I hope, praise God!

Now I'm looking forward to the short break I'm having on the 29th & 30th this month.

I love working at Starbucks.

But today was a day when I didn't feel like going to work. I figured out that squeezing everything into 6 days is impossible (and pretty much left me grasping for air at times) and decided to shift some commitments over to Sunday, which was to be my Sabbath. But really, I would be happier doing something else today and not be tied up with work. And coupled off with a horrible day at work which I would be pleased not to remind myself of, I think I should stick to keeping my Sabbath.

'Sorry I'm not free' isn't one of my favourite phrases.
And, I've missed another friend's 21st today.

It's been a long week, especially this week.
And it's not nice to enter into another week worn out.

In all things, balance is the key.

Today i received a special Starbucks tumbler, i'm really like it alot!

But its so nice i'm not sure if i can ever bear to use it, or to use it as an ornament.

And i unknowingly went to put myself as available to work on the 18th. I think i forgot about my birthday, and 18th is the Sunday before my birthday and thats when i want to celebrate it since my birthday falls on a monday and i don't want to cause much inconvenience to others. Its really nothing big anyways.

Now if you look at my iPhone calender, you will find an entry on the 19th. "Time: All-day, Event: My Birthday"

I like to remind myself to take a back seat and look at the bigger picture.

Thats when i see beyond my own needs. Thats when i can see that i am just an individual, living in a world full of individualS, and that the world does not revolve around me.

Like how the Bible teaches us to esteem others higher than ourselves, i've got to look at the bigger picture sometimes, to accept that maybe things are better the way it is, or maybe others would be happier like that.

Though some things will kill me and some things aren't that comfortable at all.
Then again, it was never about me anyway.

Yesterday i woke up and made a crucial decision (to me),

I'm not holding a birthday party anymore.

Many factors, like time - 2 weeks plus more and i still havent managed to confirm the booking of the place due to some complications.

and i guess a party is not really quite my thing. i don't like crowds.

I see what else i can do to celebrate my birthday i guess, or whether do i need to.
i just keyed in my birthdate on my iPhone in case i forgot about it. hahahaha.
